Which one?

The Bear NEVER looks at me with my camera anymore. I mean NEVER, I make silly noises, call her name, dance around..... nothing. I think this is what has been adding to my photography slump. I just don't like any of the images that I produce anymore. I am sure if my muse would sit still for JUST ONE SECOND, it would help a ton. I am frustrated. So when I got this picture tonight, I was immediately in LOVE with it. There's just something about that little almost sad looking face and side swept hair. I LOVE it!

So back to my question which do you prefer, black and white or color? Which do you generally prefer?

I love black and whites so much, I usually have color images because my black and whites always seem to lose detail and never look that great to me. I love the way black and whites look on the wall, they seem to blend and not compete with everything else in the room.

Kayleigh LOVES wood chips... much more than swings, slides, and steps.

The weather this time of year makes me want to be outside all day long. Luckily, we have a park within walking distance of our house!

15 Months!

We went to the doctor yesterday. Kayeligh had a rough time. To start we had to wait 50 minutes in the room.... you know, the little room with NO toys, NO books, NOthing but a rolling stool and crinkly paper over the table. Of course, I let her play with both. When the doctor came in, he could not see in her ears because she had so much wax. I was amazed when he pulled out a pea sized ball of wax out of each ear! I love icky stuff like that! We wrapped up the appointment with shots. Ususally, Kayleigh is fine taking them. NOT this time! She went completely red in the face and screamed forever afterwards.

Kayleigh was 31.5 inches tall, which puts her in the 85th percentile. She weighed 23 pounds, which means she has not gained any weight since the last time we went. She was in the 65th percentile for weight. I can't believe she hasn't gained anything, that girl CAN EAT!

"Bye Bye"

The Bear kept picking up our shopping bags last night and saying "bye bye." Kayleigh usually does not say much, so I thought it was very cute!

Sidewalk Chalk

I have a renewed love of sidewalk chalk. I keep getting it out for the Bear and I to play with. She is more interested with put them back in the box that they belong in and carrying the box around..

Lava Rocks!

We have a garden of these lovely rocks right outside of our door (NO, I did not choose these.... ick.) Kayleigh JUST CAN'T leave them alone. We spend alot of time out there taking them out and putting them in, seeing how many we can carry at once, and counting them together. She LOVES them!

My First Sewing Project!

Here was my first sewing project ever! I was wrong, it was not blue... it was green. Now that I look at this, I know that Mimi must have done most of this, I mean look at those sleeves!

Thermal dress

I adore this dress. I am tempted to make it in my size. The collar is not wonky as it looks hanging, but the skirt is definitely cut crooked. I am so lazy! I need to go buy more of this fabric!

FYI: The dress that I made yesterday was Simplicity 3622. For Kayleigh, I almost always sew out of my Ottobre magazines, LOVE THEM!

The Stash

Now, the Bear loves to stash her treasures in the horse's basket. In this picture she has one of her "sssshoos" and a pen that she probably stole from daddy's work bag. I have also seen in the basket White Dog, her cup, a saltine cracker, various blocks, the remote, and a pair of pants.

Some Sewing

I have been assured that my sewing posts do not bug y'all out there in blog land. Sometimes I am afraid to blog about sewing because I think y'all will think I am a nerd. But I promise! I'm not, ask my friends. Here are the 2 things I have sewn this week.

A Halloween skirt for the Bear.


A knit dress for me. I LOVE knit dresses, I think I will make 5 more just like this in different colors. PS - please excuse the hair and workout clothes under my dress. We rode bikes tonight.

I was thinking while I was finishing my dress about the first time I remember sewing something. It was at my Mimi's house, where many of my most fond memories took place. Mimi has a sewing room TO DIE FOR in her bedroom. It has tons of cabinets, counter space, and even an iriong board that pulls out of the wall. When I grow up, I want a sewing room like that. I don't remember how old I was, or where Matt was.... but Mimi and I decided to sew a dress for a Cabbage Patch doll. It was blue with white dots, had a sash, and bloomers (from what remember). Mainly what I remember is that I kept sewing wonky lines, and that the seam ripper and I really got to know each other. Now, if it were up to me, I would have just left the wonky lines. I dont take anything apart unless it is TERRIBLY wrong. For instance, on the blue dress that I made, I put the skirt on inside out... I ripped it off and started again. Had it just been a wonky line, I would have left it... or sewn a straight line over it. I am lazy. Anyways, we finally finished the dress. Maybe one day she will send me a picture so that I can show y'all what it looked it. I am still very proud of it, even though I am sure that I didn't sew MOST of it.

Poor Baby!

Finally, we are getting molars. Ughhh. Strangely enough, Kayleigh still only has 2 teeth on the bottom. She is getting 4 in at all one time! Needless to say, it has been a long weekend. Lots of crying, tantrums, drool, Motrin, and hugs. I hope this is over soon, I want my sweet K-Bear back.

Tomato Basil Soup

Ok, I am back. After several complaints about my absence ( I feel so loved), I decided to just break down and buy a new charger. The only thing I had to take pictures of tonight was my soup.

I have a small obsession with tomato basil soup. There is a cafe by my school that we order from often that makes it. Just the thought of that velvety smooth, cream based soup makes my mouth water. I decided to try to make this recipe last week. First, I couldn't find the cooking sherry. Then, I got home and realized that I needed 3 lbs of potatoes, I had only bought one. Then, tonight when I started to FINALLY cook, I realized that I had not bought a bullion cube. I decided that I didn't care at this point, and made the soup anyway. It is going to cook all night, I can't WAIT to try it in the morning.I got a little too excited about the thought of this YUMMY lunch tomorrow and cut my finger. Luckily may camera was sitting right there.

My Little Pumpkin

This weekend, my mom, Kayleigh, and I had a girl's weekend. We hit up Canton on Saturday and the Arborteum on Sunday. It was SO much fun and so very relaxing.

I had never seen the "Autumn at the Arboretum" before. If I had, I would have surely been prepared. It was so beautiful! Next time, I will take a reflector, not dress Kayleigh in white, and maybe fix her hair. Even though the pictures aren't perfect, Kayleigh had a great time! She loved trying to pick up the pumpkins and playing with the hay.

Oh, and check out the butterfly that let me get like 2 inches in front of him!
