Where did my baby go?

Lately I 've been wondering who kidnapped my sweet, little baby girl and left me with this sweet baby that looks like a big girl. I can't get over how old Kayleigh looks just in the last few days. Where does the time go?

Dog Park

The Bear and I met my friend Caroline up at the dog park today. I had no idea how much fun it would be. Cosmo was kind scared of the other dogs, so he didn't really play. I still think he just enjoyed not being on the leash. He got a bath last night, so he didn't get to go swim in the lake like the other dogs. Kayleigh was in hog heaven, she is obsessed with dogs.

Caroline's dog, Maggie.

Her other dog, Cooper.

Kayleigh loved Maggie.

This is my chicken dog. He hid under my legs most of the time.

Crayons!

To keep the Bear busy this evening, I showed her how to color. I was AMAZED that she started mimicking me and scribbled all of the page. I can't wait until we can color in coloring books together one day. Crazy enough, she didn't even try to put them in her mouth.

Contemplating her next scribble.

Ummmm, I had no idea that crayon could mark on fabric.... whoops! shhh....... don't tell daddy!

Fiesta Mac

Yum Town!
I actually have a little recipe you you today. In college, we would take turns making dinner for each other. Pretty much every time it was Jen's turn to cook, we ate Fiesta Mac. I will have to ask her where she got the recipe, something in the back of my memory thinks that Billy Jane (her mom) made it for them. Anyways, here you go. It should take you a maximum of 15 minutes from start to finish (my kind of cooking)!

Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 package of taco seasoning
1 box of Velveeta Shells and Cheese
1 back of Scoops

1. Brown beef, add seasoning. Follow directions on seasoning package.
2. Cook shells and cheese
3. Mix beef and shells and cheese together
4. Eat with scoops ( tonight we ate it with some guac too. I love guac in the summer, but that is a whole 'nother post)

Oatmeal Bath

Today I let Kayeligh feed herself oatmeal. As to be expected, she made a mess. Sean and I thought it would be easier (and alot more fun) to let her try out her new swimming pool instead having a bath. It was pretty gross, there was alot of oatmeal in the pool by the end of it, but the Bear had a BLAST!

Look at how much water is in that diaper! This picture cracks me up! Oh, and she is telling me bye bye because I was going inside.

I Did It

I finally cut into my cupcake fabric for Kayleigh's birthday dress! I have been scared, but I took the plunge. I LOVE how it came out, I just wish it was a tad bit smaller. You can't trust the measurements on the back of patterns... ughh!

Play 'till you Drop

I get a kick out of it when Kayleigh plays so hard that she just lays down and fall asleep.

Breakfast of Champions

Honeybun (refridgerated, not frozen) and Diet Pepsi. Reminds me of home.

11 months old

Goodness, 11 months!
I feel like Kayleigh has changed the most over the last month than ever before. She is most certainly getting a personality. She will try to have a conversation with you now. She interacts when she plays and even brings you things to play with her. Her favorite meals is boiled chicken, peas, carrots, green beans, and shredded cheese. You can already tell that she is not much of a risk taker. She will take a couple of steps and just sit down so she does not fall. She says "ma ma," "da da," and "bye bye."
I will have to weigh and measure her tomorrow.

Oh, and look. No pants.

The Girl with No Pants

When daddy changes Kayleigh, he usually does not put her pants back on. I don't know why. It's probably one of those things like when she is wearing a onesie I only snap the outside buttons and not the middle one. I don't know why, I just don't.

Kayleigh and I were playing "beauty shop." she is holding the bow that she ripped out of her hair.

Keeping Busy

My toe still hurts very badly. Now that the swelling has gone down, you can tell how crooked it is.... ick! Since I don't feel up to going to the gym or walking around the mall, we have been spending alot of time around the house. To keep the Bear busy, I have been making her a little "water play" area. She thinks it is great!

ALSO: I have been wanting to try cloth diapers FOREVER. We decided to give it a try. It is going well, and they are SO cute (look at the picture)! They are alot easier than I would have ever guessed, just like a disposable diaper, but in cloth (look here). We are testing them out to see if it is something we would want to do all the time. Well, all the time in the house. I don't care to tote around poopy cloth diapers outside of the house. We are using a company out of Houston called Diaper Daisy. I HIGHLY recommend them. For about what we would have spent in disposable diapers for 2 weeks, we spent on "renting" brand new ones! I love that we are not putting all of that waste in a landfill, but most importantly (to me) that we save 30 cents every time we use a cloth diaper. THAT ADDS UP! PS - please excuse the crazy underlining, it won't go away.

Matchy, matchy

I try to spare y'all and only blog about my sewing projects that I REALLY love and not every single one. This is one that I adore. I made these for a special neighbor that is moving this week. She has been a fabulous neighbor (and an even better cook) and I wanted them to have something to remember us by.
We will miss y'all!

While I was doing dishes, Kayleigh figured out how to get herself in "her drawer." Sadly, I didn't see how she managed to get in there.... but of course I ran to get my camera! She was NOT happy when I made her get out.

Laundry

I cannot get laundry done when she is around! She just pulls it out of the basket, I put it back in, she screams at me... it is a vicious cycle.

My Buddy

Keys

Hey mom, when you get back.... we will have to look for your keys. They are Kayleigh's favorite new toy.
PS - No... my mom does not work in a jail. She has had her keys on that thing for longer than I can remember!

My Husband is SO sweet!

On Sunday, I was pretty out of it after Molly's party. My cute husband made us chicken sandwiches and (burnt) french fries. He even set us up a little romantic dinner for 2 with tray tables because we no longer have a kitchen table.
I didn't think much of it, until he reminded me that it was our 7 year "dating anniversary." Yes ladies, my husband remembered an anniversary that I didn't even think of! After dinner, we watched "our movie," What's the Worst That Could Happen.
7 years ago today, Sean picked me up at my parent's house wearing a navy long sleeved (yes, in June!) knit shirt and jeans. I remember being SO nervous waiting on him. I had finally decided on my dark wash Express jeans (size 4, man I wish I could still put those babies on!) and a Tarzan style shirt (which was SO trendy then). We went to a movie that he chose. To this day, I still am not a big fan of that silly movie, but in the spirit of tradition I watch it once every year. We got to the movie very early, like the first people in the theater. It was awkward. I remember us talking baseball, and I remember it being very cold. After the movie, he took me to McDonald's (yes, you read that correctly). I got an ice cream cone, and he ate a cheeseburger and fries. After our "romantic dinner" he took me home. We hugged awkwardly and he went home. I figured that we would probably not go out again. Not because I thought it didn't go well, but we were about to go to college and such.... man was I wrong.

Now, on to a couple of pictures from the first couple months of Sean and I dating.

Molly's Weekend

The last one of us is getting married. It was bittersweet to know that we will never have another bachelorette weekend to celebrate together. Molly wanted to eat Pizza Hut and lay by the pool in the afternoon. Then, we went back up to the room and got dressed to go to the Magic Time Machine (SOOOO much fun!). After dinner, we spent a couple of hours at Pete's Dueling Pianos and then curled up in bed and chit-chatted until the wee hours of the night.
It was great.

Cupcakes!

These were some of the cupcakes that I spent a few hours making Friday night for Molly's Bachelorette / Lingerie Party.
These were some of the same cupcakes after I dropped ALL of them on the concrete outside of the hotel. I was heartbroken.

Bread Math

This (according to my dad) is the equation that will tell my mom and I how much to add to our Amish friendship bread starter without wasting any ingredients. Yeah, too much thinking .... it made my head hurt too.

Best Seat in the House

The Bear's old carseat has been sitting next to our TV for quite a while. While she was "hamming it up" for my parents tonight, she figured out that she can climb in it. The majority of the evening was spent with her climbing in and stumbling out of the seat. She was very proud of herself.

MIRANDA: Sorry, I don't have your email. Do you think I should go to the doctor over my toe or will they just tell me there is nothing they can do about it? I broke a toe once before and all they did was tape it to another toe. Is it worth going?

I don't want to play......

I just want to bang on the pot all day.

Ummm.... that Hurt

So I either broke or jammed my toe on the ottoman. It looks pretty cool now but still hurts like the Dickens! Please excuse my faux-pedicure, I didn't want you to see how absolutely nasty my toe nails are. The above picture is yesterday evening, and the bottom was today. Ps - Have I ever mentioned that I despise the color purple?
